self-related portal date range filter (!)

Ok. this is a hard one (I think).

I have a self-related portal for currency of transaction in invoicing DB (US$ or CA$). I have 'CAD' and 'USD' in globals and used as the primary key to itself, and 2 relations for them. This works fine but I have to be able to show transactions from a date range.

I can't think of a way to make a calculation field do this, since it has to be a range of dates.

ideas anyone?

It's not impossible, but it can be tricky. If the date range is always constant, like one week for example, you can set up a key field like this:
