JanetMermaid Posted October 26, 2009 Posted October 26, 2009 I am helping our local community theater company with publicity. I have entered all of the publicity contacts in a database and set up a script to print a personalized letter to each person. Everything is working fine except that the letter is two pages and the script only prints the first page for each database record. The database has two layout pages: one (called Master Database) that includes all of the records for those we want to send publicity announcements to. The other layout is called SnailMail and includes fields used for the contact name (pulled from the Master Database layout), the date, and the body text of the letter. The text of the letter is physically on the layout page in a single field (called Body) that is 19" tall. In other words, the text of the letter isn't pulled from anywhere, I typed it into the Body field. Page 1 prints fine -- names and addresses are filled in properly and I get a page 1 for every record in the Master Database. I just don't get any page 2s. I appreciate any help you can provide. I used to use FM for a living, but that's a long time ago. Now I'm just trying help to our theater.
Vaughan Posted October 27, 2009 Posted October 27, 2009 The best thing is to post a copy of your file (with confidential data removed) to the forums so we can see what's going on. Until then, try this: double-click the Body part of the layout (in Layout mode) and make sure the option "Discard remainder of part before new page" is NOT checked.
JanetMermaid Posted October 27, 2009 Author Posted October 27, 2009 (edited) That was it! Thank you so much. I've never had to print a multi-page body before so I never realized that option was even there. I do still have one problem. The second page includes the contents of the Header part of the layout, which is the letterhead information. The theater's logo is a JPG I pasted into the Header and the return address is in a plain text box. There may not be a solution for this, since both items are hard-coded onto the layout, but if there is I'd appreciate the help with this too. Is there a way to suppress the Header part on the second page? Edited October 27, 2009 by Guest
bcooney Posted October 27, 2009 Posted October 27, 2009 You need a Title Header part and a Header. The Title Header will appear on the first page, and the Header will appear on all other pages. Move the logo, etc. into a Title Header part.
JanetMermaid Posted October 28, 2009 Author Posted October 28, 2009 Thanks! This fixed the problem. I'm now ready to print publicity letters for the theater. You guys rock!
