I was certain this would not happen to me but.... I have a database that I have not had to access for some time and now need to. I cannot for the life of me remember the Administrator Password. Is there a way to retrieve the password?

Passwords are not stored in FileMaker files instead the hash of the password is stored, so there is no way to recover the password.

There are file cracking programs around that over-write the hash in the file with a known hash. These will open the file but can also cause damage.
