Hello all:

I have filemaker server 5.5. Read that it's possible to access the filemaker database via the a web browser. However, I don't see anything specific to do that.

Thanks for your input!

Angelo,

FMP Server does not actually allow you to serve files via the web. In order for the data to be accessible via the web, you have to have the files open via the client (either "regular" or "unlimited").

IIRC, you should find information on setting this up in the FMP manual for the client software.

Yes, You are right.

I found the settings, is there any specific setting to be done on Internet Informartion Server 5?

Or is it all being taking care thru the filemaker pro app?

I changed the default 80 port to something else since it's being used.

Path is Ip address and then what?

Thanks Again!

ipadress:port/default.html

Assuming default.html is the homepage for the web companion. (See preferences>plugins>web companion)

Web companion is a http server in its own right, so you not addressing IIS.

If you want to route through IIS then you need FMP unlimited, which has a special webs erver connector to handle other web servers.

Understood.

Now, is the default.html referencing the filemaker server 5.5 or filemaker pro?

I do have both install on the server.

Did a search on the filemaker server hosting the database & the default.html is only on the filemaker pro folder. Does that mean the databae has to be in the filemaker pro folder?

Thanks again!
