sijmons Posted November 3, 2009 Posted November 3, 2009 (edited) I am trying to install SuperContainer v2.631 on Mac OSX SERVER 10.6 and cannot enter the registration code or get SC to work. I did a manual install as the installer gave an unknown error, then adjusted the mod_jk.conf file as instructed, adding these 2 lines: JkFmMount /SuperContainer/* cwpe JkFmMount /SuperContainer* cwpe I do get the opening page on localhost:8080, but when I try to register the registration URL fails. Also the test upload fails. Anything I can try or is this a known issue with SnowLeopard Server? TIA Peter Edited November 3, 2009 by Guest
Smef Posted November 3, 2009 Posted November 3, 2009 if you installed SuperContiner with FileMaker server it will be running on port 80(default web port), rather than 8080 (the default for tomcat). You can access your SuperContainer configuration page at http://localhost/SuperContainer or http://[YOUR_SERVER_ADDRESS]/SuperContainer
sijmons Posted November 3, 2009 Author Posted November 3, 2009 Unfortunately David, that did not do the trick On http://localhost:80/SuperContainer I get the error message Object not found On On http://localhost:8080/SuperContainer I get the expected opening page of SC but the test page and registration cannot be found. The installer did run partially (until it got to the unexpected error) so maybe it got to the part that port 8080 was set or does it do a roll-back when installation was not successful? Any other suggestions I could try?
Smef Posted November 3, 2009 Posted November 3, 2009 You will not need to add :80 to your URL if you are using that port, as it is the default web browsing port number. If no port number is specified it defaults to :80. The installer.jar file installs (but fails on Snow Leopard) to install SuperContainer with FileMaker Server. If you are seeing SuperConianer at :8080 it means that you have it installed with a Tomcat deployment on your system. Look for an Apache directory in your applications folder. It sounds like you may have copied some of the files into your Apache Tomcat directory, but not all of them. I would recommend downloading a fresh, fully up to date version of SuperContainer from http://360works.com/supercontainer/. Copy the SuperContainer folder from within the zip you will get from there into Tomcat's webapps folder. Restart Tomcat and SuperContainer should be up and running on port 8080. Please let me know if this does not resolve this issue.
sijmons Posted November 4, 2009 Author Posted November 4, 2009 David, there was no Apache installation present. I installed a fresh copy in /Library/FileMaker Server/Web Publishing/publishing-engine/cwpe-tomcat/bin/ then did a re-boot but with the same result, only the opening page is visible at localhost:8080/SuperContainer no access to the registration page/
Smef Posted November 4, 2009 Posted November 4, 2009 (edited) Check the permissions of the folder and make sure that everything in there is set to read & write for all users. The easiest way to do this is to set the permissions for the main supercontainer folder, and then use the "apply to enclosed items" option to make sure that your permissions propagate through the subdirectories. Also, did you do a special configuration of your FileMaker server or system's Apache to run on port 8080? The default is to use port 80 for both of those services. Only Tomcat will run on port 8080 by default, so I suspect you are accessing some sort of Tomcat installation on your system when you are using localhost:8080. If you like, you can call me at 770-234-9293 and we can do screen sharing and I can take a look at your system. Edited November 4, 2009 by Guest
