Accessing a file in a folder

Featured Replies

I was wondering if there were some way of accessing a list of files in a directory (folder), and then sequentially opening them and gathering the information in the files.

Thanks for your help,

Fed

This is a little too vague to answer. What kind of files? What kind of information? If you mean plain text files, then FileMaker has an Import Folder (•) Text files option, which can import the files (though not the info about the file itself). AppleScript can get both the content and the file info.

Great. I am not that acquainted with Applescript. Any idea how I could get the Filename and contents?

They are all text files.

Thanks again,

Fed

If they are all text files you can just use Import Folder. Look in the Help, it is pretty straightforward. Import a folder into Text fields, to get Text Contents, File Name and File Path. It can optionally go into enclosed folders.

Thanks. I'll give it a try.
