ok, here's what I envision. I can't figure it out but you folks are a lot smarter than I.

I would like to have fields on a layout and allow users to select which fields they want to see in a table view.

So, if I put 10 fields for choice and a user wanted to see only 3 of them, is there a way for users to indicate which 3 and then have those 3 show up in a table view for sorting and printing?

I am using FMDev6.

I've seen this kind of thing using javascript and it could be I would need to web enable to get this functionality.

just thought I'd ask.

Do yourself a huge favour and update to FMP 9.0 or 10.0. Just about everything you'll be learning to do in FMP 6 can be done a much better way in the new version. Especially for web work.
