Newbies ZorDesign Posted November 16, 2009 Newbies Posted November 16, 2009 I'm looking for a way to: 1) Show a dialog box to the user allowing for the selection of a location to create a folder. This is just like SelectFile but with a folder instead of a file. Maybe the user should be allowed to name the folder but this is not crucial. 2) Dump a number of files into that folder. This is done by FileMaker exports and I already have that part up and running. 3) Zip the folder with all included files. It may be safe to assume that there are no subfolders within the folder. I seem to have read someplace that the plugin should be able to zip folders but even in the most recent 3.22 version I only seem to be able to do single files. Just to make things a bit more complicated (or maybe not) it should of course run on Mac OS X as well as Windows. Is there any way of doing this which I have overlooked? Best Regards, André Just Vedgren ZorDesign ApS
Smef Posted November 16, 2009 Posted November 16, 2009 There is a module named "Choose Folder" which will give you the ability you are looking for. ScriptMaster currently has the ability to zip individual files, but not folders. We can develop a custom module for you which would be able to do this. Please let me know if you are interested in this and I can get you an estimate for the cost to do this development. You can email me at [email protected].
Newbies ZorDesign Posted November 17, 2009 Author Newbies Posted November 17, 2009 Thanks for the advice on ChooseFolder. I seem to have overlooked that one. However, it doesn't allow the user to create a new folder. One way of creating a folder is the classic "Export Field Contents" trick where you export a container field containing a zipped folder but it has certain disadvantages like automatically overwriting any previous item at the same location. Adding the creation of a new folder to the ChooseFolder function would be a nice improvement...
Smef Posted November 17, 2009 Posted November 17, 2009 The ability to create a folder and then select the folder is not something currently supported by the Choose Folder module. We could write you a custom module which would give you the ability to do this. If you are interested in having us do this, please email me at [email protected] and we can get you an estimate.
