Newbies kewlginko Posted November 20, 2009 Newbies Posted November 20, 2009 I work in film and television development. I have created a simple database for managing our projects, but I need some help... Does anyone have a solution for keeping notes in reverse chronological order? I only have two layouts: Development Reports (one for each film, TV show, concept, etc.) & Development Slate (a list of all the projects). I need to be able to input notes in the reports and have the latest notes always updated in the project slate. That part is not so difficult, it's getting the notes organized in reverse chronological order that's stumping me. Ideally, I'd like to be able to just click a button that runs a script that bumps all the old notes down and gives me a fresh place to enter new ones. I could just have a giant field full of text and enter in new stuff at the top, but again I'd like to be able to click a button and have it insert the current date and somehow demarcate a new note. Any suggestions?
Ocean West Posted November 20, 2009 Posted November 20, 2009 Here is a great technique... http://www.filemakermagazine.com/videos/universal-notes.html
David McQueen Posted November 20, 2009 Posted November 20, 2009 Quick thought Notes should be in it's own table related to project. Display is via a portal sorting in reverse chronology.
Newbies kewlginko Posted November 21, 2009 Author Newbies Posted November 21, 2009 Thanks! That's the perfect solution, but I can't make it work because I don't have the ability to do that development in my version of FM. I even subscribed and downloaded the technique files. :(
