Disable 'autostart' feature

I am absolutely new to FileMaker and have a client with a shrinkwrap solution that no longer suits their needs. They have extensive data in their FM Pro-based application which needs to be migrated to a new system. My problem is that whenever they start FileMaker it autolaunches the shrinkwrap application and gives no access to FM-Pro directly so I cannot directly use the FM export capabilities. I would appreciate help with either of two approaches I see to migrating their data:

1. Disable whatever autostart feature the shrinkwrap solution put in place.

2. Create an ODBC data source to the FM Pro DB and use that as the migration path.

Also, I BELIEVE that FM Pro is installed on the client's computer but after browsing the forum and several Google searches it may be that they have a runtime version installed. Can anyone coach me through dtermining which version I have installed?

Data files that seem to be associated with this application have the extension .fp5.

Thanks,

Larry

Sounds like your customer has a runtime version. To be able to access the data you would have to open the main menu file with FileMaker Pro version 5 or later.
