Anyone having this problem?

On my MAC, (I develop with both MAC and Windows) Filemaker will not open a runtime file by drag and drop. I can drag the runtime file onto the windows FileMaker App, but on my mac, somehow this is not possible. I like the ability to just open the file by dragging it onto the FileMaker App icon, (or Alias thereof), but for some reason I cannot do it on my mac anymore. Wasn't drag and drop INVENTED by Apple? Anyone know what i can do to fix this small bug?

Thank you,

John

Do you only have one FMP version on the hard disk ? Did you rebuild the desktop file ?

Why are you draging and dropping in the first place? Do you need the exercise? Just double click the icon and it should open.

Are you dragging the actual database file itself or the runtime engine?

If you are actually trying to open a bound database in a real copy of Filemaker Pro, I would recommend opening Filemaker first then opening the files, via the menu. This seems to be less problematic when dealing with bound files.

Here's my thought:

When I'm working on a solution, after Binding it with the FMP Developers Tool, sometimes changes need to be made to that solution. In the past, I've been able to open the Bound Files in FMP by dragging them onto the FMP icon. If I double-click on them, the Solution Runtime opens them so I drag it in order to specify that they be opened with FMP. It's simply a matter of convenience. Opening FMP and then choosing open from the File menu seems a bit tedious when in the past it was a one step process.

Weirdly, it still is a one step process on the Windows platform. ( It's a one step process on both platforms with FMP 4 )
