Serial, yet not so Serial Number for portal

I'm trying to get a number applied to a portal row that is consecutive but resets for each new record.

I'm probably going about this in the most difficult way... but I can seem to get anything to work.

I tried setting a field to Get (PortalRowNumber) but it returns as 0, I've tried applying some sort of "@@" function to a row but you can't sort by that.

I'm thinking I need to do something similar to:

Go to Record/Request/Page [Last]

Set Next Serial Value [Table1::Invoice ID; Table1::InvoiceID + 1]

Please see attached file for a better visual of what I'm trying to do.

Any suggestions?
