Ok I have been using Filemaker for a long time for my own stuff.

I have other people starting to use my stuff, and now I need to learn about formatting screen resolution.

Can someone give me the gist, perhaps a sample script?

Not sure what you mean by "formatting screen resolution".

FMP 9.0 and later lets you design layouts that can change their size to fill the window. Is that what you mean?
