DykstrL Posted August 21, 2001 Posted August 21, 2001 I am having the same problem with W2K machines. The User's profiles are different in W2K than Win9x or NT. If you are logged on to W2K as a normal user, you cannot install - or more precisely, alter the registry of the machine unless you have been given specific rights to modify the registry - and thus the "EXE"cutable of the runtime cannot register the associated extension. Even Power Users can be prohibited from installing software - it all depends on what rights the IT shop has given to the specific user groups and users. So far, the only way around this that I have found is to plaster warning notices everywhere (Readme file, web page, FAQ, install popup, etc.) to make sure the user is logged on with ADMINISTRATOR rights (or have someone who does) before they install the package or run the "EXE"cutable the first time. This is not a FileMaker bug, it is one of Microsoft's new features in Windows 2000.
