Arto Posted March 25, 2010 Posted March 25, 2010 Hi, I just created a restore disk image of my Filemaker Server Advanced 9 on my laptop. I would like to develop new functions without directly working with the online server. Everything seemed at first to work fine. I was able to log in the server admin console and the status of the databases are normal. The image was verified when created. But when I tried to make a search using http://localhost/[php-code] I can't get any connection to the database. Iwp says "database not available", php solutions don't return any values from the databases. Other things like static images and text do appear. Anyone had similar kind of troubles or any ideas of how to solve the problem? Yours, Arto
Steven H. Blackwell Posted March 25, 2010 Posted March 25, 2010 I do not believe this configuration is supported. FMS must be installed with the installer. Steven
Arto Posted March 27, 2010 Author Posted March 27, 2010 (edited) Ok, thank you for your answer. This an education lisence and the vendor told me that it is okey to install this very same fms9 lisence to laptop for testing purposes. But I remember I had some troubles installing it with the actual server running, too. But have to see if that would work now. Arto Edited March 27, 2010 by Guest
Steven H. Blackwell Posted March 27, 2010 Posted March 27, 2010 This isn't a licensing issue I don't think. If you want to install it, you must run the installer. The installer may tell you there are issues with your CPU or OS. FileMaker Server is a daemon/service. its parts are installed in different portions of the computer by the installer. Steven
Arto Posted March 27, 2010 Author Posted March 27, 2010 Thanks againg for your kind answer. The interesting thing is, however, that the disk image I created with the disk utility restore option really is a perfect replica of all that was in the original disk. So every tiny detail of FMS is in the right place, as are other files like apache configurations, desktop items as they were at the time of creation of the disk image. But obviously something went wrong anyway, so I'll try next the install option. Best wishes, Arto
Lee Smith Posted March 27, 2010 Posted March 27, 2010 Arto, please UPDATE your [color:blue]Profile to reflect your current Version of FileMaker. This Link show how to do this. Link TIA Lee
Arto Posted March 29, 2010 Author Posted March 29, 2010 Hi Lee, thank you for pointing me the update procedure. Installing the environment the ordinary way I came to think of a possible reason for the restore-way not working. I'll test this soon and tell the results in case others might be interested. Yours, Arto
