brettallan Posted March 29, 2010 Posted March 29, 2010 Here's the problem... I have a 'jobbing database' and I have created a separate new 'time database' - the link relationship is the Job_No field. I have a view in the Jobbing DB where the user can add new entries by selecting their name from a pull down menu, then enter time and date in fields (within a portal view)... so via the portal the Time DB is building a list of users and their times and dates against a job number... this is all working well - a user adds new time to the main jobbing database and it creates a new record entry in the time database... Now management is concerned users may delete or edit other users time amounts against the job number (for any number of reasons)... the request is to change it so only the user's own dates/times (and all historic entries for that user - sorted by date) against the particular job number will be displayed in the portal - not all times/dates from all users of the current job number (as currently happens). They would also like to lock down new time/date entries to the actual person - e.g. don't pick their name from a list - just enter their time/date details and it knows who they are. This would reduce 'dodgy' information in the system. Is there a way of doing this... is there an example database where I can see this concept in action? To add to the complexity we are still on version 6.0 of FileMaker - but we are in the process of moving to version 11... Looking for any help I can get.... a solution that will work in 6 would be preferred! Cheers Brett
