Hi

I've developed a number of FM applications over the years, but have never had to get one compiled yet. Now I need to do so.

I know exactly what I want the application to do within FM and I have to hand it over to a developer to do the runtime, However, I have no idea how to "prepare" my application for that process. I don't want to hand it over and find (at $150 an hour) that there are things which need to be done before it can be compiled, and which I could have done myself if someone had only told me.

Where can I find this information pease?

There really isn't anything to do. If you have the Developer Edition, all you have to do is start it up, answer a few questions, provide the list of files in the solution, and the name for the output folder. All the documentation is contained in a few pages in the Developer Guide. It shouldn't take you more than a few minutes to do.
