Hi,

I'm new. A few years ago I created a layout that tracks jobs coming into our business. I did not create a customers table (did I mention I'm new at this?) Each job is created as a new record. The problem is, we have many repeat customers. Now I have thousands of records, many are from the same customers. When I export my data to Excel, I see I have many duplicate customer fields. Is there a way to get a list of distinct customer names and other related fields such as address, phone, email, etc.?

Yes, if you sort by customer you can export grouped values.

Or, you could sort by customer, omit the duplicates, and export the resulting found set.

See: http://sixfriedrice.com/wp/deleting-duplicate-records-in-filemaker/ for example.
