comment Posted April 29, 2010 Posted April 29, 2010 I am not at all sure I understand your question. Perhaps a simpler example would be more useful. It seems to me that the best solution would be to sort the data in Filemaker before exporting. However, if you must sort during the export, perhaps this simple demo can help: Sort.zip
Rolfo Posted April 29, 2010 Author Posted April 29, 2010 Thanks for the quick comment, but even when I use the attribute select="." (as it is in your example) it doesn't effect the outcome at all. So I was already wondering if xsl:sort could be possible in combination with the position variable... but I think it should.
comment Posted April 29, 2010 Posted April 29, 2010 I still don't understand the issue. Does my example work as expected?
Rolfo Posted April 29, 2010 Author Posted April 29, 2010 I copied your sort-line in my xslt but without effect. To be clear, my problem is that I don't understand how to sort the output via my xslt style sheet. And you know what? Tonight it is Queensnight in Holland!!! So I am going out now in Amsterdam. I'll try things and suggestions tomorrow.
Rolfo Posted April 30, 2010 Author Posted April 30, 2010 I found out that sorting is not effecting the order of my elements when they are called like this: only when I just use So I think I will make a complete different approach by rebuilding my XSLT stylesheet using 'choose' and 'when' elements for all my different categories. Then it is also easy to make a single header for a new category!
comment Posted April 30, 2010 Posted April 30, 2010 I am afraid I cannot help you without further information. I posted a demo that shows how to do what I THINK you're trying to do - but I am not sure. If my assumption is correct, you need to study the example and understand how it works in order to apply it to your situation. Copying a randomly chosen line of code into your stylesheet is not likely to bring any benefits.
