Hi

we are experiencing some problems with the ScriptMaster, and installing the new ScriptMaster plugin or updating the Java environment seems to work.

The problems is easily identifiable as FileMaker simply does not launch anymore. You see the startup screen, and while loading ScriptMaster it simply crashes FileMaker.

However...

I am really wondering if there is a way to control this. We have customers calling us all the time, and the solution is always the same: update Java or install the new plugin for ScriptMaster (depends when we installed the soft on their machines)...

What is causing this problem? So we are able to give a good description of the cause of the problem to our customers.

Thanks in advance!

Andries

edit: until now, this only happens on Windows computers

This was an issue having to do with Java 6 Update 18, which changed the way some memory is set when creating a JVM. We had to update all of our plugins to accomidate this, and the only way to resolve the crash is to update the plugin.

If you users are all connecting to a single database you may want to think about using FileMaker Server's Auto-Update feature. We have a file to help you set up using auto-update to update from either our servers or your own at fmp7://autoupdate.360works.com/AutoUpdate360Works
