I have a table in a database recording exam marks which links to a table of user details.

Currently, all fields in the marks table are displaying ? and cannot be clicked upon. Doing a search in a field does returns the relevant data, but it is meaningless as again all values display ?.

Adding a new record in the table works just fine, and previously the records contained all displayed fine.

Is there any simple way of fixing this problem?

I have tried deleting the relationship and re-establishing but to no avail.

Thanks.

I assume nobody has a clue what I'm on about here. I'd hoped someone would say, "oh yeah, that happened to me. Here's how to fix it. Dead easy".

Or not.

If anyone has any ideas, do clue me in as I am mighty frustrated with this little issue.

Thanks.

People have clues but you're providing insufficient information.

A copy of the file would help if that's possible. It sounds like the file is damaged. The damage could be a result of how you're using the file, including possibly using OS file sharing.

Please provide a LOT of description about how you're using the file, if you're sharing it, how you're backing it up, are you using FileMaker Server. FM7 is quite old and FileMaker has improved a LOT since then.
