Hi.. I have a database at my store, collecting the orders of my clients. When an order is done, I need to restrict editing. This is not the difficult thing. What I actually need to do, is to be able to edit it, but only by a higher user. So, when someone wants to edit an order, he needs his supervisor to come and enter a password, do the change and lock again.

But I need the administrator to know both the old order and the changes. I thought about duplicating the record and using a flag field that would be activated on the old one when this happens. So when I want to print, list or whatever, just omit these. But this means creating all the related fields as well. : Does anybody else has a better idea?

everytime you make a new user account, you can edit their privilege. you can set it so that he can only see, but can't edit/delete acct.

go to File > manage > security > new user > edit button on the middle right side beside the drop down box for privilege set

inside there you can custom set access for the users.

hope this helps :)
