How to store images in a folder on the server

Featured Replies

I have Filemaker Server 10 Advanced running on a mac. We have multiple users on mac and windows that need to be able to upload images to the server. I want to store a reference to the images instead of keeping them within the database. How do I script so that the images go to the right folder on the server when uploaded from a windows or a mac machine.

1. Referenced pictures have to be on a shared folder. Server should not be on a machine with share.Your pictures should probably be on another machine.

2. You are going to have trouble in a mixed Mac/Win environment. The reference is a filepath. Filepaths are not the same on Mac and Win. I have not played with references in a long time. I seem to remember that there might be a way to have a double reference, but cannot be sure.

3. Alternative is a two file system with one file being a graphics holder only and all documents being viewed via relationships to that file. Minimal, no layouts of its own, it just sits there.

I am not a 360 Works employee but i do use their products. Their "Supercontainer" plug in is wonderful for solving exactly this issue.
