ODBC works on Mac, right?

Featured Replies

Ok, maybe if I feign ignorance someone will have pity and answer a question for me in this forum. wink.gif That was meant to be humorous sarcasm. I am actually just glad that I have somewhere to put all of my questions where there is a chance that someone will see them that might know the answer.

I am working on a (hopefully) cross platform conversion tool that transmits data between FMP 5.0 and another binary file format. If am able to use ODBC on the Mac then I feel pretty confident that it will work out.

So, ODBC works on a Mac, right?

Did you ever get this working? If so, can you (start) to write some steps on how you did this? I am on Mac OS 10.3

The bottom line thing I am asking - has anyone accessed Filemaker Pro V6 via ODBC on Mac OS X? If so, how the ($&(*A&%A$ do you set it up?

Here is what I did . . .

a) downloaded the FM ODBC driver for FM6 (a *.sit file)

:) unstuffed it

c) double clicked on driver

d) went to the Applications::Filemaker Pro 6.0::FM ODBC Drivers and clicked on FM Pro ODBC Drivers

Then I went to the ODBC setup on Mac OS X and nothing shows up.

Anyone ever get this to work?

read about which ODBC system to use on Flemaker FAQ. You will have to disable the FileMaker supplied to use the OS X native drivers. Or use the DataDirect ODBC manager to configure data sources.

Just another little FileMaker trap. Don't bother with a radio button in prefs, let users find out the hard way ....
