dangkevin Posted July 15, 2010 Posted July 15, 2010 Hi all, I am going to install SuperContainer on a Window Server 2008; however, there are 2 installation options that I am still not decide which one to use. One is "Using Supercontainer as a standalone server application" and the other is the "Installing SuperContainer with FileMaker Server Advanced". Does anybody know the pro and con of each option? I thinking of the standalone installation as it is the easiest and it would not affect FileMaker if SuperContain has a problem. Any feedback would be appreciated. Thanks.
Smef Posted July 16, 2010 Posted July 16, 2010 Installing stand-alone on a mac gives you access to previews pdf, psd, ai, and a few other formats. Stand-alone operates on port 8020 by default, and requires that a user be logged in to launch the application (you can do this as auto-login and a startup item, of course). If you are not running stand alone on a mac you will not get the benefit of the PDF preview generation. Installing with FMS does not require a user to log in or an application be launched, but you will not have access to the pdf, psd, or ai previews. SC on FMS runs on port 80, so you will not need to specify a port when accessing the URL.
