rivet Posted November 25, 2001 Posted November 25, 2001 I am having trouble connecting the ODBC control panel on my mac to a remote nt server hosting ms7 SQL. Currently I have downloaded the Merant ODBC plugin for ms7 SQL ("MERANT SQL Server Driver 3.51") but I am unable to make a successful connection. Help Please
Newbies psion Posted January 25, 2002 Newbies Posted January 25, 2002 I'm having similar problems with the Merant SQL Server Driver 3.51 under OS9.2 with FMP 5.5 and with the Merant ODBC Demo app. I've tested connecting to a local and remote SQL Server 7 database with the same results. When an incorrect login is entered it is rejected by the server, but when the login is correct Filemaker returns the error: 'Can not open database requested in login 'mylogin'. Login fails. (-1)' The Merant ODBC Demo app logs the SQL Server error IM008 Dialog Failed. I know the login, password, database name, server ip and port are all correct because I can use the same to retrieve data using MacSQL, but I'd _really_ like to just use FMP.
ddave Posted January 25, 2002 Posted January 25, 2002 Sorry, no answers...more questions. I'm having similar problems. Running Mac OS 9.2 with FMPro 5.5 trying to bring in data from an Oracle database using Filemaker [MERANT] 3.51 Oracle PPC driver. I've also tried the Pervasive [iNTERSOLV] 3.02 Oracle PPC driver. The error messages I get for these drivers respectively are: [MERANT][ODBC Oracle driver]Number contains an invalid character:1-Wait(-1) [iNTERSOLV][ODBC Oracle driver][Oracle]ORA-12154:TNS:could not resolve service name (-1) Server names and data source names are all correct. Will be watching here, and thanks for any help!
Steven H. Blackwell Posted January 26, 2002 Posted January 26, 2002 Do you lads have the RDAC plug-in enabled? Old Advance Man
Newbies psion Posted January 29, 2002 Newbies Posted January 29, 2002 RDAC also enabled here. I'm waiting for a reply from Merant/DataDirect/Metro Technologies, will post anything useful.
Newbies psion Posted January 30, 2002 Newbies Posted January 30, 2002 I have been sent an updated driver that works from the people who sell DataDirect Connect ODBC online - http://www.metrotechnologies.com/ Apparently the evaluation driver available from the DataDirect/Merant website is out of date, even though both drivers are version 3.5.1. I assume the evaluation version available at the Metro Technologies site is current. And just when I'd given up
Lee J Posted February 5, 2002 Posted February 5, 2002 <Psion> I have been trying to get to the URL you provided as I too have experienced no joy getting to an SQL server. This link seems to be outdated or void. Is there somewhere else I can go to get an update or Demo version?
Newbies psion Posted February 6, 2002 Newbies Posted February 6, 2002 You're right, looks like Metro Technologies has changed it's name to DataVations and their eStore (where the demo was previously available) is 'coming soon'. I'll forward you the email I got from them with just the updated SQL Server driver attached if you'd like to supply me with your email address, anyone after other database drivers can try emailing the guy who helped me: Randy DiVito <[email protected]> Hopefully he kept his job and now works for DataVations! spragueg Posted February 28, 2002 Posted February 28, 2002 Lookie what I found... Metro Technologies, L.L.C. If you are a Metro Technologies customer or vendor and require additional information, please contact Russ Cerqua at 847/719-2280. Mr. Cerqua will be handling the winding down process for Metro. If you have a technical question or a question regarding development services, please contact Gary Dotzlaw at 847/719-2280.
