saralee Posted August 26, 2010 Posted August 26, 2010 Hi ,right now my database is hosted at the FM Server which is at an MAC. I just wonder if i need to shut the server down before shutting down the MACs occasionally... thanks!
Vaughan Posted August 27, 2010 Posted August 27, 2010 If you mean shutting down the computer that is running FM Server (and is the host of the shared databases) then the best practice is: 1) Open the remote admin tool for the FM server 2) Disconnect all clients 3) Close the databases 4) Stop the FM Server and web engines It is now safe to shutdown or restart the computer I might add another step: 2.5) Run a schedule to backup the files. Allow time for this: disconnecting clients and closing the files can take several minutes each.
