Is there any way to attach a word doc to a record that can be opened from different computers on a small local network. Container field seems to work great for the computer it is stored on but the other computers on the network cant open it.??

Containers can store the file physically, or as a reference to a location on your harddrive.

As I understand from the problem, your word file is stored in the container field only as a reference. This way it will only work if the file is stored on the other computer on exactly the same place, otherwise the reference will not work.

In order to solve this, you could store the file inside the container field (but this will make increase dramatically the size of your database) or store them on a fileserver that is accessible by all computers.
