What is Server.pem and root.pem files?

Hello..

I am running FM9 Adv. having problems after a complete FM removal via control panel.. looked in the Program files/ filemaker folder afterwards.. they are all removed.. So when updating the install.. + the FM site updates for this FM9 Advanced version... I have a 4K server.pem file and a 2K root.pem

Can I remove them?
