Newbies MikeInMI Posted September 18, 2010 Newbies Posted September 18, 2010 FM Pro 11, Snow Leopard I created a sub-summary report and in the leading sub-summary area I am trying to display a field from a related table. In Form view, the field displays fine. When I click on the icon for list view, the field won't display at all. I'm going crazy trying to figure this out.
bcooney Posted September 18, 2010 Posted September 18, 2010 Subsummary contents only display if the records are sorted by the field specified in the subsummary part. Check your sort order.
Newbies MikeInMI Posted September 18, 2010 Author Newbies Posted September 18, 2010 Thank you for the response. The primary table is sorted in order by the key sub-summary field, which is a project number. That is printing fine in the sub-summary area. The field that is not printing is the project description field, which is in another table. I've also sorted that by project number, but I'm led to believe that the order of the related table is less relevant. The relationship of the primary table to the related table is many to one.
Newbies MikeInMI Posted September 18, 2010 Author Newbies Posted September 18, 2010 I want to thank bcooney as I now have resolved my problem. His response had me start doing research in the sub-summary area and I was able to find an article that was the key. Evidently, my field which wasn't printing in the sub-summary area was "touching" the header area. By moving it down a couple of pixels, the problem was resolved. Maybe that is weird, but I found an article on it and it worked.
bcooney Posted September 18, 2010 Posted September 18, 2010 Mike, Sorry I didn't get back to you sooner. We've all been bit by the sensitivity of field placement. Another one to watch for is that all fields must be inside a tab panel or they'll "jump" to the front. Barbara
