snaves Posted September 23, 2010 Posted September 23, 2010 I know the header says only versions 9, 10, 11 but we are using 8 and looking at upgrading to 11. Should we expect any issues to arise? Frequently problems encountered? What is a reasonable project time to plan for the upgrade? We are a smaller agency with only 20-25 licenses so the project management should be minimal-correct? Thank you in advance for any thoughts, suggestions or advice given
Carl Horton Posted September 23, 2010 Posted September 23, 2010 (edited) If you are talking about the continuation of the development of your application then yes there some differences in upgrading that you will have to account for. If you are talking about upgrading your copy of FileMaker Server, then no there should not be any problems. On our FileMaker 11 Server we are currently hosting solutions written and maintained in FileMaker 8 without any issues. Edited September 23, 2010 by Guest
Steven H. Blackwell Posted September 23, 2010 Posted September 23, 2010 The complexities are more a function of the architecture of your solution than of the number of licenses you have. Download a trial copy of FMP 11 and take a look at the new UI elements as well as event triggers, etc. Many, many changes since version 8. BTW, I hope you have already ordered your new licenses. Upgrade pricing expired today. Steven
