Seting the layout at opening, so it always opens in the same layout.

I would like the DB to open in the same layout and in List View. In FMP (I seem to remember) you did set the opening layout from the document preferences. In 11 I do not seem to find this feature.

Is there a way of doing this? Help seems to offer no help.

There is another trick, however. The file initially opens on the last layout it was viewed with before it was hosted with FMS. It then changes to the layout selected in the file options.

This came up in a TechNet discussion because somebody's file was opening and causing related files to be referenced.

This is not our experience on Windows, Vaughan.

Normally opening would open on the aggregate layout (if saved there last) and then the startup script would run (where I had a Go To Layout). But adding 'go to layout' in file options directly happened BEFORE either the layout it was last saved on OR the script-step in the start-up script.

You can test it by saving a layout with all aggregate that takes few seconds to display. Even put simple menu layout switch in startup script. You will see the aggregate layout for a second before it switches.

But put your menu in the file options > go to layout and you will not see the aggregate layout at all - not even a flash. We tested it here and it holds true on Windows 2003 FMS9 and Windows XP sp2.

I used to believe it always opened first on the layout it was last saved on. I am convinced to add main layout in file options now instead and dropping it from startup AND no longer being sure to go back to main menu and make a change and save it before exiting.

This may have been fixed in one of the versions and used to break.
