Stopping data file from being shared

I have recently migrated my solution to a UI and data separated model. I am having issues with stopping the data file from appearing in the Open Remote dialog on the server that is hosting the file. I have closed both files and gone to Sharing and clicked the "Don't display in Open Remote File" dialog checkbox but this has not removed the file. I have also removed all Network access to the file but it still displays in the Open Remote Dialog even though users have no access to the file itself.

Where else do I have to remove access to the file to prevent users from seeing it while still having access to the data file.
