bruceR Posted October 20, 2010 Posted October 20, 2010 Looks like the Mac App store will bring some interesting opportunities. But the expectation will be for apps that can be easily registered, and apps that can be updated automatically. Will FileMaker runtimes qualify and how will these issues be addressed? It won't be realistic to try to answer these questions until more info about the App Store is officially released.
Jodin Posted October 25, 2010 Posted October 25, 2010 Yes, I am also watching this space carefully. It seems like there is a huge opportunity to leverage the FM development community to design the vertical market apps that will keep the iOS alive and growing. If Apple is serious about owning FMI, the FMAdvanced version should allow us to compile and submit to the Apple app store. We should still have to follow the store guidelines (and I think many developers will have to modify their business plans to do this). C'mon FMI and Apple, actually coordinate on this and leverage your loyal and varied FM developers to continue expanding the iOS platform. If we could compile and run natively on iOS (or in a Go-runtime) it would head off Android and WinPhone7 in the mobile business world.
