Using Search Criteria To Populate A Portal

I am using Filemaker Pro 11

I need help with creating a script which will allow me to populate a portal with the results following a search.

For simplicity purpose, say I have a database with the following fields: Name, Age, and Gender.

I can perform a search using an Age range and Gender to find the relevant Names, but do not know how to populate automatically a portal with the results from this find.

All advise would be greatly appreciated.

You can't actually directly populate the portal because your relationship will be based on more than one value - and on of these will be a "range" (age)

I can tell you how to make the necessary relationships to classify known people into their "demographic category" but you can;t easily populate the portal directly.

Populating a portal with the found set is not a trivial task. As a rule, a portal shows the related records - regardless of any found set. However, you could use a relationship instead of the find to show the records that meet your criteria (including a range criteria).
