Repeating fields lookup

I need to create a database that will be designed taking an Excel file as a template. In the Excel file there's some 250 rows and about 10 columns. I need to more or less duplicate this layout into FM. I was thinking of using tables instead of a layout to handle this but I need two of this columns (with their corresponding 250 repetitions) to pull data from two other tables inside the same file. I understand this is not possible just by simply defining the field and the creating repetitions, as these will all share the same values.

Could someone please shed some light on how best to approach this?

Any help will be deeply appreciated!

PS Am attaching a screen capture of the Excel file am working with.

Filemaker is not a spreadsheet. It is best to design a solution around the data that needs to be tracked, and leave the layouts to the end. Seems to me you should start with a table with 250 RECORDS - and no repeating fields.

Thanks for the pointer, I actually end-up doing just about that and now instead of repeating fileds, am working on a table layout with different records. There's a few bits am yet to resolve but approaching the solution like that was the best way to go. Thanks!

BTW Yes, I know FM is not Excel -God forbid!!
