Newbie Question about access to database

Hi all,

sorry if this is a dumb question but:

I just started in a lab which uses FileMaker. They have several different licenses for FM (versions 7, 9, 10, 11), and basically use them to all access one database - which is open in FileMaker on one computer.

In FM advanced you can create stand-alone apps - can these apps be used to access the open FileMaker database?
