Sometime we copy the database from the server and run it locally in our notebook. Is there a way to know whether user access the database using File|Open or File|Open Remote ?

I hope you are not copying the hosted file. NEVER copy the hosted file while it is open in FMS. Use an FMS schedule to create a backup and only copy the backup.

As for your other question, use the Get( HostApplicationVersion ) function.
