Is it possible to be connected to two different IWP databases via different tabs in a browser? I can open each database individually in its own browser tab, but when accessing the first database and then moving to the second, the second throws a "record not found" error and refreshes the window with the first database.

I believe the only way to do this would be to access the server via two separate domain names.
