I know I have done this in the past but can't find my notes. Is there a simple method of displaying the running count of records grouped by category and resetting each time category changes.

i.e. DVD's grouped and sorted by category and title. Want the count to reset to 1 each time a new Category is displayed. I realize I can create a Script to run each time I use the report and create a field which is updated with the appropriate number but wonder is there an easier way. The option of using "Restart Summary for each Sorted Group" on the Summary field does not seem to be available.

I'm not sure about 9, but in 11 you would want to add a trailing subtotal to your table. Make sure you select "Count," and not "Running Count" since you want it to reset on Category changes. Then add a sub-summary section to your report on Category and make sure to sort the records before running it.
