Windows will not associate .fp7 files with Filemaker

I am running Filemaker 11 Advanced on Windows Vista sp2.

Windows does not recognize .fp7 files as Filemaker files. I AM ABLE to open the files from within Filemaker (via File->Open). But even when I right-click on the files, select "open with" and navigate to the FMA11 executable the file association never gets established.

I have exactly the same problem - I installed FMP10 Advanced to test a runtime then uninstalled but now can't establish file association with FMP11
