May 10, 201114 yr Hey All, I am working on a solution where each administrator has their own page. In order to keep the number of layouts I have to a minimum I was wondering if anyone had found a way to change visual objects, such as a menu, based on a field. Confusing Right? For Example SET- will be a text field, each time I click a button, the field would be set with the script parameter, ie. the word written on the button, signifying which menu set I would like to appear. MENU Students Room Manipulation Public Area Damage Lets say I select the Students button. Without the Layout changing I would like to bring up a students menu so that the user can decide where to go next. It would look like this. STUDENT MENU Search For Student Enter New Student Run A report I am currently using images as my buttons if that makes a difference. And the versions of FileMaker I have available are FMP9 Advanced And FMP10(not advanced) I can figure it out using multiple layouts, but I when I try to use conditional formatting, I cannot quite figure it out because I can only change text color. I was hoping there was a way to show a graphic object only if a field is equal to a specific value. Or any other way I can get this to work!! Any help is appreciated. Thanks, Bob
May 10, 201114 yr When you say "menu" you mean a group of static buttons on the layout, right? Not a real menu as in FMPA's "custom menus".
May 10, 201114 yr See here for some ideas: http://fmforums.com/forum/topic/61640-fake-an-apple-accordian-in-fm/page__p__292899#entry292899
May 10, 201114 yr Author Thanks, I don't know how I feel about the accordion idea because I like the graphic interface that I have now. I suppose I could use container fields, but any other ideas?
May 10, 201114 yr You can still use a tab control object to display different buttons at different times. The exact arrangement is up to you. You could also change the text displayed on existing buttons - but then your scripts will become more complex.
