Newbies Frogeye Posted May 17, 2011 Newbies Posted May 17, 2011 First, an appology if this has been covered before - but try searching for 'save as pdf' and see where it gets you I have two layouts that give me a problem of creating a blank page when there are more than 6 records shown. The first layout has a header, footer and a body that contains 20 individual portals showing up to 20 lines from a parts ordering system. The portals are arranged so that they do not cross a page break. There are 7 portals before a page break occurs. Sliding and printing is set to slide up, and reduce the size of the enclosing part. The second layout again has header, footer and a body that has a singal portal showing up to 20 records. 10 records can be placed on each page. Sliding and printing is as before. Every thing is cool for both layouts, and when using save as PDF, the PDF is correct when there are up to five records to display. When there are 6 records, a blank page (with header and footer) is generated in both cases. I have looked for empty records, and page elements that might be causing the problem and found nothing. In both cases, there is physical room on the page for more records before a page break should be needed. Does anyone have any suggestions or seen this before? I'm at my whits end trying to figure this out! :bang: TIA Paul
bcooney Posted May 17, 2011 Posted May 17, 2011 Honestly, best practice is to not print using portals, but rather to create the report from the child table (the table that the portal is based on). If the portals represent different tables, you can use three methods: a report table, Bruce Robertson's virtual list technique, or Append to PDF.
Newbies Frogeye Posted May 17, 2011 Author Newbies Posted May 17, 2011 Thanks for the advice - looks like I'll have a bit of work properly sort this Ho Hum... "There's no gain without pain!"
