Plugin Auto Update Will Not Update Plugins

Featured Replies

I have set up the appropriate directory structure and scripts steps to auto update plugins from our FileMaker Server (Windows 2003; FMS 11 Advanced)and am unable to get the plugins to update, whether they already existed on the client computer or not.

Every script step, from confirming that AutoUpdate exists on the server to confirming that the plugin exists on the server to, finally, updating the plugin gets the intended response, yet the plugin is never copied to any of our clients.

I've confirmed that the AutoUpdate plugin is installed and activated on the client, and every time the script runs, the FMSAUC_UpdatePlugin step returns a "0", but the plugin is not copied into the Extensions folder. I've even closed FileMaker, removed the earlier version of the plugin and re-opened FileMaker and tested again. I never get an error, but the plugin never shows up in the Extensions folder.

If an earlier version of the plugin was already in the Extensions folder, then that copy remains in the Extension folder, but no longer works. I can manually copy/move/delete the plugins in the Extensions folder on the client so it is not a permissions issue.

If anybody else has experienced this or has any ideas on what may be going on, please help me.

Plugins don't necessarily get copied to the EXTENSIONS folder. If you're on a Windows 7 machine look for them here:

c:\Users\JohnDoe\AppData\Local\Filemaker\Extensions

Be aware that the AppData folder is hidden so you will have to un-hide to see its contents.
