synergy Posted June 16, 2001 Posted June 16, 2001 Hello A quick Q: I have a "notes" field in one of my dbases. and when I go to print the layout which it is a part of. Only what is visible will print. How do I get FM5 to print all the contents of this field by continuing on another page automatically etc. I know in Quarkxpress all I need to do is set a link to a text box etc. but I have not found anything like this function in filemaker? Thank you in advance p.s. I did read the last topic in this list but the answer was not there.
Chuck Posted June 16, 2001 Posted June 16, 2001 Drag the vertical size of the field on the layout larger than you would ever actually need it to be. You'll have to increase the size of the body also. While the field is selected choose Format->Sliding/Printing. If there's anything on the same part that the notes field is on that is below the notes field, you'll have to select it too. In this dialog box, select Sliding up based on: All above and Also reduce the size of the enclosing part. Now when you print, the notes field will be as large as it needs to be, but will only take up as much room as it needs. Chuck
Newbies atria Posted June 21, 2001 Newbies Posted June 21, 2001 My question is similar to synergy's except that what I need to print is the web-enabled version of our database. We have about 20 columns of varying widths and only about half of those get printed. How can I go around this problem? Can it be solved with programming or is there a plug-in out there that we can use? Thanks for your help.
Vaughan Posted June 21, 2001 Posted June 21, 2001 Create a new layout in your database and format the text small enough so all the fields fit. use sliding/printing as well, but be aware that this will destroy the "columns" look of the design as they will move about a bit.
