K1200 Posted July 16, 2011 Posted July 16, 2011 Off and on over many months, I've looked for a way to turn off the dotted field outlines that display when the user clicks in any blank area of the layout. I've attached a sample file that clearly demonstrates the effect. I would believe that it just isn't possible, if it weren't for the fact that a few fields on a few of my layouts don't display the outline. But I can't see any difference in the way those fields are defined. Thanks in advance for any advice. BorderTest.ZIP
Vaughan Posted July 16, 2011 Posted July 16, 2011 Check the field's border settings. There is a difference between setting the line to 0 and to de-selecting the borders.
K1200 Posted July 16, 2011 Author Posted July 16, 2011 Thanks for your response. If you mean the Appearance => Object tab in Inspector, I believe I've tried every combination of Line, Fill and Baselines. I also have field borders turned off at the layout level. Is there another setting? (BTW, on my BorderTest.fp7, I forgot to make my test layout the first one. So when the file starts, just switch to layout Field Border Test.)

Go into layout setup and uncheck the view field frames checkbox.
K1200 Posted July 16, 2011 Author Posted July 16, 2011 Go into layout setup and uncheck the view field frames checkbox. Sorry, but that's not the problem. I did that a long time ago. The problem is not "when the record is active". It's when nothing is selected. Try the click here in my example file.
