Newbies hightower Posted February 7, 2002 Newbies Posted February 7, 2002 I have read in a different post that filemaker running on PCs don't really support WYSIWYG. I have a problem with lining up the fields where they should be. I am trying to mix the fields in with a regular text and the field jump around to different places depending on what scale I am viewing them at. Also they print in the wrong spots. Does anyone know of a particular font that will work the best to minimize these issues? Thanks Bill G
Vaughan Posted February 7, 2002 Posted February 7, 2002 Rather than mix fields with text, use FMP's merge codes to insert the data into the text block.
danjacoby Posted February 7, 2002 Posted February 7, 2002 It ain't just FMP -- Windows isn't WYSIWYG. It's true that this apparently permanent bug tends to be more evident in FMP, but it's across the board.
Macman Posted February 7, 2002 Posted February 7, 2002 We had a similar issue with printing to a dot matrix printer from Windows 2000, but in the area of size. The text on the printout to our Epson DFX-8500 was coming out GIANT, though the measurements on screen were not agreeing. It took getting the latest drivers and then we had to set them about three times (they wouldn't "take" the first couple of times), but after that it seems to be OK. After getting it set, even though it's not WYSIWYG, we are able to accurately create reports. Incidentally, everytime we create a new FM file we have to repeat the settings process. We've been round and round with TS on this to no definite answer.
danjacoby Posted February 7, 2002 Posted February 7, 2002 Just a thought for Macman: Rather than creating new files from scratch, make a clone of a file with the "correct" printer settings. Then delete the fields, scripts, etc., and use it as a template to create new files. Don't know if it'll work, but it might be worth a try.
