February 21, 200223 yr Newbies Hello, I've had a problem using FMP 5.5 and OS X. Basically all EPS graphics on my layouts print bitmapped. I have done some homework on this issue, I've got all the latest versions and when I open the exact same DB file using the classic version of FMP, it prints fine. The problem isn't the graphics. I was lucky enough to go to the recent Macworld Expo SF and I cornered someone from FileMaker and asked him about this issue. I was told that the problem isn't an "every config" issue and that it may be heavily dependant on the printer drivers (I have an HP 4050n) the trouble is that my read on the FMP guy was that it was either an Apple problem or an HP printer driver problem. I wonder if anyone else out there is having this same issue when printing EPS graphics on their printers from the OS X version of FMP? Thanks for any input.
June 12, 200223 yr Newbies Hi, I'm having similar problems. I print video labels to a Xerox Docucolor 12 through an Imation RIP. My layouts with EPS graphics print fine from Windoze or OS 9 clients, but only the EPS preview prints from OS X. It would be rather nice to find a solution to this problem. I'm beginning to hate restarting in Classic mode.
June 13, 200223 yr I don't know about this not being an issue with FMP... if it wasn't then any other programs we use would also have the same problem, right? I also have a few Adobe products in this machine, including Illustrator, InDesign and Photoshop, and I'm printing EPS files just fine on our Epson, HP and Tektronix printers, but like you, FMP won't print properly in OS X on any of these printers... it sounds to me like the problem is in FMP.
June 13, 200223 yr Are the original EPS graphics still in the same relative position on your hard drive as they were when you imported them? ***************** THE FOLLOWING PARAGRAPH MIGHT NOT APPLY TO FMP -- IT'S TRUE FOR MANY OTHER PROGRAMS, HOWEVER, SO... If only a "preview" is printing, that's usually the problem. It's a good idea to have a "Graphics" folder inside your solution folder in which all your graphics are stored (yes, even the bitmaps!). That way, when you go to print (assuming you have a postscript printer), the printer will look for the original graphic for any EPS-formatted graphics. ***************** In general, I don't like importing EPS graphics into FMP -- the graphics engine in this software isn't very good.
September 29, 200223 yr I've heard from filemaker that they know of this problem and the problem still exists in FM 6.03, but does anyone know if the problem is solved with the OS X 10.2.1 update? I currently have no output device so I wonder. Tried with outputting to PDF (from OS X system) and it seems to work. Tried it before and also the PDF failed in quality. Please respond
May 4, 200322 yr Newbies I'm having the same problem with .pdf, .tiff, and even .bmp (last resort) --- more details here - http://www.fmforums.com/threads/showflat.php?Cat=&Board=UBB31&Number=59427&page=0&view=collapsed&sb=5&o=&fpart=1
