I have isntalled adminanywhere plugin and it works perfectly internally from my server but I can't seem to connect externally from a browser that is not on my network, any ideas how to get this working?

Two things to try first: 1) Be sure you are using the external ip address for the things you want to access and 2) make sure port 8180 is available for communication.
