Hi Everyone

Thanks for all your help. I am using Avery 5164 label which print six label per sheet. I got the layout done the way I like it. The question is their a way to print a specific label and not the whole sheet. I would like to choose how many label and which location to print in.

Thanks

Always be wary of printing used label sheets in a lser printer. Sometimes the effort is not worth the risk.

The labels are designed to be run through a laser printer once, any more and the labels run the risk of becoming seperated from the sheet and causing damage to the internal parts of the printer, such as sticking to the drum.

If you are going to have a lot of partial sheets left after each label run, it may be worth investing in a label printer. These are 1 wide and you can print as many labels as you like, with no wasteage.

Not sure the price in the states but over here they start at about

We have been reprinting label sheets for years and it hasn't been a problem. The other issue is the label need to be atleast 3.5" x 4". I never been a friend a thermal printer since the label will discolor over time. Will the newer thermal label still turn black when you photo copy them?

I would like to use 6 label per sheet if their is a way to print. The other option is to get custom cut single label.

Thanks

You could have a global number field, then have a script create blank records for the number in the global field, sort so that the blank records are first, print the labels, then delete the blank records (and empty the global field as well).

I've done this with label sheets that are 30/page with no problem. Of course, I'm using an inkjet printer... tongue.gif

I have also done as per danjacoby's reply and made it work. Took a bit of time to suss out all the script steps.

If you create a global number field called "labels already used" then the figure ou put in here can be used to generate the number of blanks.

The only problem we found with this was that if auto enter serial numbers were involved in creating new records in the database used for printing. If the numbers are to be sequential then adding and deleting blank records will cause a problem.

The answer was to send the records to be printed to another file that just printed labels. Then the file could be cleared after each print run.

As mentioned previously, if you are using a laserwprinter then just watch that the unused adhesive from the label sheet doesn't gum up your printer. Ink-jets are no problem.

Following on from what Andy Gaunt said, be wary of reprinting on label sheets with some labels missing. Labels often leave behind some of the adhesive (although can't often be seen) this can then build up in certain areas of the printer and cause great annoyance, usually on a Friday evening at about 5 minutes before you are about to go home!!
